Every year we look forward to going to St. George to cheer on Seth's Dad, Rock, while he runs the marathon. This year was his 29th time running that marathon, amazing huh! Seth's sister Sage ran it this year as well and she seemed to be pretty active afterward, but I guess with 4 kids she didn't really have much of a choice.

Joseph
About a month ago a girl (April) in our complex who we had met through the missionaries came over and asked if I would be interested in watching her little boy who is turning one this Sunday.
Anyways I wanted to introduce Joseph to everyone since he is pretty much part of our family. He is over here Thursday through Monday from 6am-3:30.
He is very different from my girls in the way that he thinks he needs to be right next to me ALL the time. But he is warming up to the idea of playing by himself.
So here are some pictures of Joe Joe.

I had just spiked Josephs hair with Gel. I love little boys hair spiked! It is so cute!

This is Sienna right after she had Hit Joseph on the head. For some reason she likes to pat his head and sometimes I see her rubbing his head. She really does bully him. She will take his toys and he doesn't even try to fight back. So sad!

Grandma & Grandpa Came to visit

Seth's parents came last weekend to pick up some cars, and were able to stay a night with us. Meika had so much fun listening to Grandma and Grandpa read her stories and sing her songs. When either of our parents come to visit she always says "I love them so much". I think that she really misses being close to all her cousins and grandparents!

Music
I added music to our page, but I didn't listen to all the songs before hand, so if you hear a song with a bad word or one that is just stupid please let me know!
Hope you enjoy!

Someone broke in to our house last night
A lot happened at our house overnight. We don't know who did it. We think someone broke into our house and dawdled around for a while eating our food. This is the evidence I found this morning:
First of all, there was a yellow wet spot on the bed right next to me. We think the burglar must have been drinking lemonade or something and spilled it there. But it must have been lemonade that smelled like urine, because to me it smelled a lot like urine. And it was in the very spot that meika was sleeping, after she snuck into bed with us.
Wondering how this could have happened I got up to shower and noticed that the burglar had eaten half of a tomato and left it on the bathroom counter. That was weird. he must have been a little guy because his bites were really small. And it's weird that he would just eat a tomato like an apple.

Once I got to the kitchen to make breakfast, I saw that the refrigerator door had been left open overnight, letting the electricity leak and all the food in the refrigerator go warm. Not only that, but the burglar had stolen the lunch I had packed for myself last night. Fearing for the safety of our girls, I went to their bedroom to find them safe and sound asleep. Meika was sleeping especially deep because she didn't wake up when I turned on the lights (almost as if she had just barely gone to bed...hmmm...at 6 am...hmmm). In their room I found the remains of the lunch I had packed for myself today. The burglar had eaten most of my tuna sandwich I had packed last night, but not all of it. I think he really liked cheese, because he at all the cheese from the sandwich, but he didn't really like the crust so he just threw that part on the ground, along with the rest of the tuna and bread he didn't eat.

I am filing a renter's insurance claim for the amount of the food stolen and other items destroyed, and we are installing bars on our windows and deadbolts on our doors. We are offering a $100 reward for the capture of this person. Please call 911 if you have any information regarding this matter.

Happy 3rd Birthday!

Today is Meika's third birthday, and we had a lot of fun celebrating it! I woke her up by singing happy birthday, she woke up with a little smile. We let her open her birthday present from us, which was a little washing machine for her doll clothes. She had breakfast and then was off to pre-school. She was so excited about the day because I had made a birthday crown for her and she was taking pink cupcakes to school to share with the other kids.
When I picked her up from school she wanted to get McDonald's and go to the park. So thats what we did. She ended up feeding her cheese burger to the birds, which was kinda freaking me out because there were so many birds and they would walk up so close to us. It reminded me of that movie "Birds"... So freaky!
Meika wanted pizza, root beer and some cauliflowers for dinner and it was all very good. Seth let her blow the candles out like 15 times... she thought that was pretty fun since Seth turned the lights out while she blew them out.
I can't believe how fast she has grown up, she is such a blessing to our family, I don't know what we would do without our silly little princess.

Sienna's First Step

Sienna got a really sore bum last night, so I was letting her go with out a diaper but put some of Meika's underwear on to make sure we didn't have any poop dropping on the floor. Anyways, her bum was really sore so she would just stand in one spot until she fell and then she would cry and stand right back up. She found the princess crown and I saw her squatting trying to put it on (she's been watching her sister). So this picture is from last night, but this afternoon she took one and a half steps. Half meaning she started it but in the middle decided the ground was a safer place so she just slowly put her bum on the ground.

Meika Goes to Preschool

So Meika Started preschool last week, but I was teaching that week so it didn't really seem all tha fun to her. But this week she went to one of the other homes and she LOVED it! She was so excited all morning, we packed a lunch and put it in her little backpack. When we got to the home she was a little hesitant at first but when she saw all the other kids she walked right in! Angie, the mom taching said that Meika was soo good! Thats nice to know that she is good for someone!
When I told her she was going to school she said " no I want to go to work like Dad", I thought that was cute, she knows whats going on around her thats for sure!

How's Work at the Firm?

I'm putting down the paintbrush forever . . . hopefully. I got a paid internship at Deluca & Associates, a bankruptcy law firm. Now I get to wear a shirt and tie to work. I hate wearing a shirt and tie to church, but I suddenly enjoy it now that I have to wear it for work. I feel like a real professional.
I really like the work because he's training me to do real substantive work, not just busy work as law clerks usually do. He's been training me to fill out the schedules and forms for bankruptcy filings. I like being able to be inside a law firm and see how things work from a practical standpoint.
Wondering about the title of this post? I listen to a radio host who insults callers when they call up with stupid comments by asking "how's work at the firm?" Implying, of course, that they are too dumb to really work at a firm and are probably some blue-collar painter or something, without the brains to really work at a law firm. So now if anyone ever says that to me I can just say "fine".

What a Helper
I was making rolls last week and Meika wanted to help, so she was helping me knead the dough and I had left to go do something else, but had let the bag of flour on the table. I looke dover to see a hudge mess of flour! It was all over the floor, tale and all over Meika. I was ina hurry trying to get dinner to a family in our ward so just tried to ignore the mess. She had so Much fun!

This face is so cute, this is her "I am concentrating very hard" face.

Free Tickets to Klok & Pamela Anderson!
Seth Did a paintjob for some really nice people who gave us two tickets to a magic show downtown @ Planet Hollywood. We were so excited to go and we even more excited that we had a girl in our ward coming to watch the girls. (This was the first time we left the girls with someone other then family and close friends) IT WAS WONDERFUL!! I didn't knowit would be that nice to get out and not worry about the girls.
Anyways the show was really fun, we left with all these questions about how he did those trick... He twisted a girl up cut people in half...made a light bulg fly into the audience... it was really fun.

This is the Magician/Illusionist, He had this weird thing he kept doing with his hair.
Seth: Hmmm. Look at this picture. The fat jokes just write themselves, don't they?

Here is Seth oogling over Pamela Anderson! So gross, she is getting old and was wearing this swimsuit looking thing which noone should really ever be wearing. Seth: I disagree. Pamela still has the best body money can buy!

A Visit to Anderson Dairy

This last monday we went to the Anderson Dairy factory to see how their ice cream and milk and other stuff is made. They had a really cute presentation where the talking cow in the picture above told about the factory. Meika thought it was pretty cool, especially since at the end they gave everyone a free bowl of ice cream! Yum! It was actually really good!

Book Reviews
You can see that Cairen Meika and Sienna have been having all kinds of fun during the summer. Wonder what I've been doing? Listening to books on tape while I work.

Eragon by Christopher Paolini. I'm amazed by this young kid who graduated from high school at 15 yrs old and had this book a NYTimes bestseller by the time he was 19. I had seen the movie but the movie skimmed over the details and changed some of the facts. but the book is very engaging.

Eldest by Christopher Paolini. Sequel to Eragon. Even better that Eragon. The title has a suprise double meaning that you don't learn until the end. Made me think a lot about what makes a good sequel, because this was a great sequel. It doesn't follow some formula used in the first book, like sequels usually do. It actually made the first book all seem like setup for the sequel.

Empire by Orson Scott Card. Very political, but very hard for me to suspend my disbelief enough to buy that a civil war might occur over the tired, Rush Limbaughesque, democrat/republican rhetorical debate. So kind of an unbelievable setup, and I don't think Orson Scott Card is the best action writer. He should stick to science-fiction fantasy.

Fatal Tide by some feminist woman with a boring writing style and stereotypically feminist beliefs about the way that men talk and behave around women. Men are all animals dominated by sex. This was the dumbest book I've ever read. The dialogue was stupid. Everything about the book was stupid. I don't know why I even finished reading it, except that I hate to stop a book without finishing it. The ending was predictable.

Killer Instinct by Joseph Finder. This was a fantastic book. Definitely the best out of this bunch. It starts with an interesting hook that it doesn't really need because they style is so nice that it made me interested even before the plot developed. But then it gets really suspensful. It reminded me of a cross between John Grisham and J.D. Salinger. The plot and suspense was really similar to a John Grisham novel because it happens in a modern, corporate setting. But it reminded me of Catcher in the Rye because the attitude of the protagonist is so down to earth, and so cynical and tired of the phony, pretentious butt-kissers that he works with. Just like Holden Caulfield from Catcher in the Rye.

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. If you're going to read this one, get an audio version just so that you can listen to the English Accent of the guy that reads it. This was a really good book. The kind that you really need to read over and over. I listened to it twice. I'm looking forward to reading it in its original Portuguese when I get a chance. The english version is a translation.

The Ricky Gervais Show. Great comedy that had me laughing constantly. If you don't mind gratuitous profanity. (I work construction...I guess I've built up an immunity to it. I never use profanity, not even when I'm mad, but I'm usually not really offended by it).

Meika LOVES Bethany
We were having a family picture taken with Seths family and I saw Meika & Bethany playing together so well! They found a ball and her throwing it back and forth to each other ( which was pretty funny because they would get really far apart and then only be able to throw it a couple feet).
I thought that these pictures were just so dang sweet!

The 4th Of July
We had such a fun filled day, we woke up early and headed to the freedom festival parade, where we got a great spot... front row, even in the shade for a little while!
Here is Meika, she loved the marching bands, Ronald McDonald, and all the horses.

Seth worked most of the day, so I took my girls and Brooke and Nick and the rash family met us there. After the parade we went swimming and then went and saw the movie license to wed.. it was pretty funny.

We ordered from Good Wood BBQ & went to a park above the provo temple to watch the fireworks... We sat on this hudge hill, which was pretty crazy because we were slowly sliding down the hill because it was so steep!
Here are my parents laying on the hill.

We got home so late! But Seth was nice enough to go out with the kids to light some sparklers and some other little things... all the girls were too scared to hold the sparklers though..
